This book deals with the burning issue of public sector in India. It is based on the National Seminar on Rationale of Public Sector in India organised by the Department of Econo¬mics, Rani Durgawati University, Jabalpur. The book consists of valuable papers contributed by eminent scholars in the field. Majority of the contributors have strongly and categorically under¬lined the significance, rather indispensibility of public sector in planned development of Indian economy. Recently there has been a nation¬wide open discussion on the very ratio¬nale of the existing public sector. The present volume looks at the need and the working of public sector in our mixed economy.
