Dr. Mallikarjun Patil’s Stories Of A Campus is a book of ten short stories. Most of these stories depict certain humorous and awkward persons and situations of Pampapati University Campus, Pampapattan. This University, according to author, is fictitious. The live characters are portrayed here with their desires, faiths and failings.
Some of the stories are on experimental basis. They are written in Patil’s own idiom. The wonders, gimmicks, eccentricities, business, etc. of men are faithfully sketched. The portraiture of men and women are vivid and lively. No doubt, stories like ‘Kallappa’s Search for a Bride,’ ‘Money Making Business’ are of special interest. Indeed, this book of stories is a rare work by a new genius.

Dr. Mallikarjun Patil is a Lecturer in the Department of Studies in English, Gulbarga University, Gulbarga. He is a genuine scholar and ambitions writer. Numerous of his articles have appeared in books, journals and encyclopaedias. His critical works on Thomas Hardy have already been received with a warm welcome in the circle of scholars and critics. His manuscripts India in Travelogues and The Makers of Indian English Fiction are in the press.
At present Patil is working on ‘An Encyclopaedia of Indian Writing in English and Its Cultural Heritage.’ Not only this, the manuscript of his novel Two Generations is about to come out soon. Besides, he undertakes work of translation.
