Teacher Education: Issues and Innovation

The entire fabric of any modern and progressive country is built upon the quality, dedication, competency, and commitment of teachers. The quality of education depends upon the quality of the teacher. He is the person who makes or mars a person. Teacher education system is an important vehicle to improve the quality of education. The revitalization and strengthening of the teacher education system is therefore a powerful means raising the standard of education in the country. It includes necessary pedagogical skills and competencies among the teachers and makes them professionally competent to meet the demands of the society.
The book consists of five parts. Part one deals with issues and challenges of teacher education in three chapters. Part two, comprising five chapters, covers the progress of teacher education. Part three of this book sketches out Open Distance Learning (ODL) and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in teacher education. It consists of four chapters. Part four of this book deals with researches in teacher education and consists of four chapters. Part five discusses reforms and innovation in teacher education, and is comprised of seven chapters. The book provides an understanding of significant issues and innovations in teacher education. It will be useful for the students of M.A. (Education), and M.Ed. It will also benefit researchers in the field of education.
