Our Publishing Process
From proposal to publication—here's how we bring your academic book to life. A transparent, collaborative process designed for quality and impact.
Submit your book proposal using our online form or email it to commissioning@atlanticbooks.com. Include: working title, chapter outline, page count, target audience, competition details and author credentials.
- A clear and compelling topic
- Well-defined audience and market need
- Author expertise and relevant credentials
- Preliminary chapter outline and scope
A commissioning editor reads your proposal and assesses its fit with our list, market viability, and completeness of the concept. You will receive a written response — acceptance to proceed, request for more information, or a decline with brief reasons.
- Editorial fit assessment
- Market viability review
- Written response provided
- Feedback given regardless of outcome
For academic, reference, and research-based titles, we send the manuscript or detailed proposal to two subject experts. Their feedback is shared with you. This stage may result in revision requests before a contract is issued.

Once editorially approved, we issue a publishing contract specifying royalty terms, delivery deadlines, rights, and print format. We encourage you to read it carefully and ask questions before signing.

- Delivery deadlines
- Rights and territorial restrictions
- Print and digital format specifications
You submit the complete, final manuscript in the agreed format along with all figures, tables, permissions, and front matter. This stage is entirely in your hands — the timeline depends on how much revision is needed.

- Permissions for third-party content
- Front matter (preface, acknowledgements, TOC)
Our in-house editors review content for technical accuracy, language, consistency, style, and formatting. You will receive one round of author queries; review and approve all changes.
