Health Services in Jammu and Kashmir (1858–1947) gives an account of the different epidemics which afflicted the people of the princely State of Jammu and Kashmir. It also examines the steps which the Dogra regime took for the prevention and eradication of these scourges. It studies the condition of health-related services in Jammu and Kashmir in its five chapters, namely The Jammu and Kashmir State Under the Dogras, Epidemics, Sanitation, Hospitals and Dispensaries in Jammu and Kashmir Provinces, and Hospitals and Dispensaries in the Frontier Territories. At the end of book, Appendices and Bibliography have been provided for ready references. Abbreviations of important terms are given for the ease of readers.
To make the book an authentic representation of health condition in Jammu and Kashmir during 1858–1947, the data have been collected from the National Archives of India (New Delhi), Central Secretariat Library (New Delhi), State Archives Repository (Jammu), Sri Ranbir Singh Library (Jammu), and Central Library of the Jammu University.
