Interpreting Drama

Interpreting Drama is a multifaceted study of drama as a form and is meant primarily for students of English at the university level. It addresses issues of cardinal significance to the Indian academia and furnishes us with elaborate analyses of various concepts of character and techniques of characterization.
The book highlights the features of drama as a genre. It confines the illustrations to plays normally taught in the institutions in India. In some ways, this limits the range of his intended readership but on the other hand, it caters in a more concrete manner to a specific audience with a local habitation and a name. The students will find reading this book an enjoyable, stimulating and enriching experience, and feel inspired to pursue “gems of purest ray serene” in the inexhaustible treasure house of drama.
The ideas and analyses have been presented in a simple language and lucid manner for easy understanding by the readers. It will also prove useful to the teachers and researchers of English literature, particularly drama.
