Relativity: The Special and General Theory

“The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing.” Relativity as a concept was not new to physics when Albert Einstein developed an interest in the field. Dissecting Relativity into the General Theory and the Special Theory, Einstein changed the basis on which physicists viewed the subject and the study of space and time, thus revolutionizing the ways of thinking forever. Lauded as ‘Man of the Century’ by Time, Einstein made physics accessible and simple for anyone remotely intrigued by the mysteries of the real world. First published in 1916, Relativity: The Special and the General Theory is regarded as the most significant work in modern physics. It was translated into ten languages in the early 1920s, and fifteen editions of the book in the original German appeared over the course of Einstein’s lifetime. To date, it continues to remain popular and highly influential.
